Birthdays come and birthdays go but each and every one creates many memories to hold close to our hearts forever, especially when it comes to our children. The Bold and the Beautiful’s Scott Clifton (Liam) recently celebrated his son Ford — and “The Big Ten. Double digits.”
In a post on his official Instagram page, the CBS soap fave shared numerous photos to mark Ford’s milestone (and wow, has he grown up!) and sent his boy a very special message to mark the occasion. “A decade of life for you and of fatherhood for me — with all its precious slings and arrows. I am so proud of you it aches,” Clifton expressed then went on to state, “Your growth, your humor, your intelligence, your artistry, your self-awareness, your wisdom, and the ever-growing precision of your moral compass.”
The actor talked about how someone he admires recently told him that he was a “good man, living a good life” then explained, “For a brief moment I wondered why such a lovely compliment didn’t fill me up the way it might have in years past. And then it occurred to me that the meaning of one’s life is designed to change over time: I’m not in the business of being the best man I can be anymore; I’m in the business of raising the best man I can raise — acutely aware that I’ll only ever be a tiny piece of your story.”
Taking his tribute to a very heartfelt level, Clifton added, “You could hate me, you know. You could resent my failures with your mother, the quaint distractions of my career; you could resent the tough love, the discipline, the pep talks and lectures, even the stranger I brought into your life who you would eventually ask to call “Stepmom.” But you have not only embraced each of these growing pains with grace and prescience, you’ve asked for more. God, I love you. And I love who you’ve made me. Happy birthday, my son.”
What beautiful words from a loving father to his son… We hope Ford had a wonderful birthday and wish him the best all year through.
