Rylan Clark has been a familiar and beloved face for Strictly Come Dancing fans for years, hosting the spin-off show It Takes Two alongside Zoe Ball. Now, the 37-year-old former X Factor star is on the verge of taking the next big step in his career: potentially hosting the main Strictly Come Dancing show on BBC.
“This is honestly my dream job,” Rylan tells us. “I’ve loved every moment of presenting It Takes Two, connecting with the dancers, the celebrities, and especially the fans. To even think about hosting the main show… it’s surreal.”
For Rylan, this opportunity is more than just a career move — it’s personal. “Strictly has been part of my life for so long. I know the show inside out, and I want to bring that energy, joy, and excitement to the audience every Saturday night.”
While other well-known presenters like Angela Scanlon, Zoe Ball, Bradley Walsh, and Alex Jones are also being considered, Rylan is confident in what he can offer. “I hope to create a pairing that feels completely fresh and dynamic — no old formulas, no clichés. Just pure Strictly magic.”
He’s particularly enthusiastic about the possibility of co-hosting with Angela Scanlon, a former contestant. “We could bring something truly new to the show — energy, fun, and a genuine connection with everyone on the dance floor. That’s the Strictly I want to see.”
Rylan also reflects on the legacy he would be stepping into, following Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, who have hosted the show together for 14 years. “They’ve done an incredible job, and I hope to honor that while bringing my own personality and flair. If the fans enjoy it, that’s what matters most.”
