It was a shocking moment for fans of Britain’s Got Talent when Simon Cowell was missing from the judging panel during the March 21 episode. Viewers were left with one burning question: Where was Simon Cowell?
Instead of the usual Simon Cowell, Stacey Solomon took his spot, while Amanda Holden stepped up as head judge. Alesha Dixon and KSI kept their regular seats, but the change was hard to miss.
Why was Simon Cowell missing?
As the show kicked off, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly quickly addressed Simon’s absence, stating that he was unwell and unable to attend filming. However, the mystery only deepened as fans began to speculate.
“Where’s Simon?” one viewer tweeted. Another added, “Missed the start of the show.” And someone else wasn’t happy with the absence: “Simon’s not even on the show tonight?“

“Amanda sitting in Simon’s seat is so weird,” another fan chimed in. “It just doesn’t feel right.”
While Stacey’s appearance sparked mixed reactions, some loved her on the panel, while others were a little less enthusiastic. But why was Simon really missing?

The truth behind Simon’s absence
It turns out, Simon Cowell wasn’t actually unwell. The reason behind his absence was far more dramatic: he suffered a painful fall backstage during auditions in Birmingham!
The fall was so serious that filming had to be postponed temporarily. Simon was seen returning the next day—and though he reassured everyone that he was “fine,” there was clear evidence of the incident. He had a visible graze on his head, showing just how badly he had been hurt.
“I fell down some steps and bumped my head. But I’m fine now,” Simon told the cameras, clearly trying to downplay the situation. “True story.”
The fall may have seemed minor to Simon, but the injury was enough to take him out of action for part of the auditions, leading to Stacey Solomon stepping in at the last minute.
Despite the scare, Simon made it clear that he was back on his feet and ready to continue. “I’m good now,” he said, but the image of that graze will surely stay with fans for a while.
So, while Stacey Solomon might have temporarily taken over Simon’s role, it looks like the judge is back and ready to bring his usual fire to the next episode.
Stay tuned for more updates, and let’s hope Simon is fully recovered and ready to take on the next round of auditions!
