Just when you thought the aftermath of Sarah Platt’s shocking murder arrest couldn’t get any messier, Coronation Street star Mikey North (Gary Windass) has just poured pure gasoline onto the fire! Speaking exclusively to Inside Soap, the actor has dropped a massive romantic bombshell that will leave Maria’s head spinning and Kit Green’s blood absolutely boiling.
Despite Sarah and Gary fiercely debunking Maria’s explosive public affair accusations at that dinner party from hell, Mikey hints that the broken couple might not be as “over” as they claim.

With Sarah now trapped in a police cell after confessing to Theo’s brutal bludgeoning, the target on Gary’s back has officially been replaced by a massive feud with bent copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).
Kit is completely humiliated that Sarah ran straight into the arms of her ex-boyfriend to bury the body rather than trusting him. And according to Mikey, Gary is absolutely relishing the chance to push the detective over the edge.
“Gary hates the law, so any authority, he’ll just rebel against it,” Mikey laughed exclusively. “I love the way that Gary always calls Kit ‘Officer’. There’s a lot to come over the next few weeks with Gary and Kit… I’ve probably found the stuff with Kit some of my favourite stuff in the whole storyline.”

But the real shocker is how much Mikey is championing a permanent reunion for Gary and Sarah. Reflecting on their 23-year history on the street alongside co-star Tina O’Brien, Mikey confessed that the actors were devastated when the writers originally split them up.
“Those characters worked well together, and it’s funny how whenever we get little bits together again, the reaction is always, ‘We forgot how good Gary and Sarah are together’,”.
And as for why Gary risked his own marriage, his freedom, and his entire life to help Sarah dispose of Theo’s corpse? Mikey delivers the ultimate truth bomb: “The fact that Gary’s had to cover for Sarah shows there are still feelings there in some regard.”
