Netflix Brings Horror to Life with Their New Docu-Film, The Perfect Neighbor
Thereâs a lot that could happen thatâs born out of pride and privilege, and more often than not, the result is always horrifying. Netflix brings us just that: the horrors that come with thinking that a person is on top of the world, only for everyone around them to watch that person fall.
Unique Film Perspective

The filming of the documentary began almost as soon as the court hearing for it began as well. Coincidentally, the victim who got shot in the incident was director Geeta Gandbhirâs sister-in-lawâs friend. And as soon as she heard what was going on, she contacted producer Nikon Kwantu before flying to Florida and began filming.
The film itself stands out simply because they did not approach the film and make it look like any other ordinary documentary, but they mixed it with elements youâd see in a fictional movie, particularly a build-up using footage they didnât get. With the help of police body cams, they were able to produce a movie-like build-up, from the absurd 911 calls from the âperfect neighborâ, up to her inevitable arrest.
Release Date
The film is set to be released exclusively on Netflix on October 17, 2026. Though the film had its world premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival on January 24, 2025, it was also released at South by Southwest on March 9, 2025, before Netflix made a deal for it to be released on their streaming platform. It was then settled and finalized, and Netflix was able to acquire the film for 5 million USD.
Things that happen in real life are the ones that are the most terrifying. From simple arguments to taking a life from another. The Perfect Neighbor is made to be a cautionary warning for those who are around people who donât like seeing other people happy, and a warning as well for those who believe that theyâre the perfect neighbor.
