Danniella Westbrook has re-emerged from hospital following major facial reconstructive surgery — and the transformation has left many viewers both stunned and heartbroken.
The former EastEnders star, 52, appeared with a visibly swollen face as she was discharged earlier this week, marking another deeply painful chapter in her long and public fight to rebuild her face — and her life.

To many, she looked almost unrecognisable.

A Transformation Few Were Prepared To See
Danniella underwent the extensive procedure in Dubai, where surgeons carried out a full face, neck and brow lift, alongside complex lip and nose reconstruction.

New images taken before the operation show her lying in a hospital bed wearing a gown, moments before going under the knife. In later photos, she is seen being pushed in a wheelchair, bravely facing the aftermath of surgery — her expression quiet, her face swollen, the pain unmistakable.
It is a sight that has sparked shock, concern and sympathy in equal measure.
Years Of Damage, Years Of Trying

This is far from the first time Danniella has gone through reconstructive surgery. Over the years, she has endured multiple procedures in an attempt to correct what she has previously described as her “collapsing” face — damage caused by a collapsed septum, osteoporosis, and her past cocaine addiction.
Her septum famously collapsed in 2002 after years of drug use, triggering decades of medical complications that continue to haunt her.

At the height of her addiction, Danniella later admitted she was spending up to £250,000 on cocaine, taking as much as five grams a day.
A Body That Keeps Letting Her Down

Just weeks before the latest surgery, Danniella was rushed to hospital with breathing difficulties — complications linked to her long-standing nasal damage.
Those health issues also forced her to pull out of filming Tales From The Trap, a role that was meant to mark her long-awaited return to the screen after nearly a decade away. She was later recast, a setback that insiders say left her devastated.
“Every Day I Grow And Glow”

Despite everything, Danniella has continued to push forward.
Ahead of the surgery, she shared a message thanking her surgeon, writing that she was learning to “grow and glow” with each step — even as she prepared for yet another operation.
Friends say her determination remains unbroken, even when the physical and emotional toll becomes overwhelming.
A Life Lived In Public — And In Pain

Danniella first rose to fame at just 16 years old when she joined EastEnders in 1990. But her career has long been overshadowed by addiction, illness and repeated attempts to rebuild herself.

She last appeared on television in 2016 on Celebrity Big Brother, reaching the final. Since then, much of her life has been spent in and out of hospitals, operating theatres and recovery rooms.
Now sober, she has openly spoken about begging doctors for help — not for vanity, but for a chance to feel whole again.
Still Standing

Behind the swelling and the silence is a woman who refuses to stop trying.

Even when it feels like everything has fallen apart once again, Danniella Westbrook continues to fight — not just for her appearance, but for dignity, health and peace.
And as she faces yet another long recovery, one quiet truth remains:
she is still here — and she is still trying.
