Kate stepped out in the same stunning blush pink Jenny Packham gown she wore on one of her first engagements as a member of the Royal Family, following her 2011 wedding.

Two children and almost six years later, the designer gown still fitted her like a glove – the only difference being that tonight she wore her hair up in a lady-like chignon.

She paired the sparkling gown that retailed at over £3,000 with a pair of nude LK Bennet heels that she also wore in 2011.

Kate accessorised with a simple silk Prada box clutch which she balanced as she enjoyed a glass of wine.

But an extra touch of high glamour came from the chandelier diamond earrings loaned to the Duchess by the Queen, which she wore to her first state banquet with the Chinese President and his wife last October.

Prince William opted for a traditional black tux and dickie bow.

The gala was held in order to raise money for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), of which she is patron

Accompanied by her husband, Prince William, Kate was attending a glitzy gala dinner together in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), of which she is patron, at opulent Houghton Hall.

A special five course meal was created and cooked by five top chefs: Galton Blackiston, Sat Bains, Claude Bosi, Tom Kerridge and Mark Edwards, who all have Michelin stars.

Kate suggested her husband was looking forward to a break from her cooking at the event: ‘William has to put up with my cooking most of the time, ‘ she said.

Kate and William chatted with the chefs before a reception outside on the manicured lawns.

William, who watched England ‘s disappointing 0-0 draw with Slovakia in St Etienne, was soon charting about football with French chef Claude Bosi.

He was delighted that England will now play Iceland and not Portugal in Nice on Monday. ‘We’re playing Iceland now on Monday. We’re quite happy about that because we didn’t want Ronaldo coming into form,’ the future King, who is president of the FA, said.

William chatted to some of the guests about the EURO championships, while Kate also appeared to be on top form

The evening began with a champagne reception featuring musical entertainment by the Jefford Brothers and Sam Aldersey-Williams and magician Archie Manners.

Later, the EACH Treehouse Choir performed after dinner followed by a speech from parent Charlotte Markham.

Charlotte and her family received care and support from EACH in Ipswich when her son Elliot died at just a few hours old.

EACH Patron and event organiser Emma Deterding said: ‘Having been a Patron of EACH for over 25 years, I am proud to be part of something so inspirational. I have seen at first hand how incredible and important the development of the children’s hospice movement is since its beginnings in the 1980s.

The evening which was set to raise £100,000 was hosted at Houghton House.

Home of the Marquess and Marchioness of Cholmondeley, the house was built in in the 1720s for the first British Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole.

Rented out to a succession of tenants over the years, it remains one of England’s finest Palladian houses after being restored to its former glory by the 5th Marquess just after The First World War.

The current 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, David, 56, is married to former model Rose Hanbury, daughter of fashion designer Emma, who is 23 years his junior. The couple have twin sons and a daughter.

William and Kate know the couple well and were photographed on the estate only a few weeks ago when they attended Houghton’s International Horse Trials with their children and friends.

Charitable Kate is the Royal Patron of EACH which supports families and cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.

Their family-centred approach includes specialist nursing care, symptom management support, wellbeing activities, and therapy and counselling – all meeting the individual needs of the child or young person, and the whole family.

The organisation currently offers care and support to more than 700 children, young people and family members. More than half of EACH’s care and support is delivered in the family home and community, in familiar and comfortable surroundings. The organisation also operates through three hospices based in Cambridge, Norfolk and Ipswich.

In November 2014, the Duchess attended the launch of the £10million fundraising appeal to build The nook. The charity’s current Norfolk hospice in Quidenham is one of the oldest in the UK and is extremely restricted in its facilities and development.

A new hospice for Norfolk will bring the county in line with the services EACH offers in Essex, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk.

The nook will be built on a five-acre woodland site in Framingham Earl just south of Norwich and will offer services which are either currently unavailable or extremely limited at Quidenham such as a hydrotherapy pool, music studio, large rooms for on-site family support groups, larger and more accessible outside space for children to explore and play and private rooms for one-to-one counselling.
