Catherine Spotted Flying Commercial with Her Children to Scotland for Summer Holiday
In a touching show of humility and grounded family values, the Princess of Wales, Catherine, was recently seen boarding a commercial flight to Scotland with her two youngest children, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The royal trio was en route to Balmoral Castle, the beloved summer retreat in the Scottish Highlands, where they were expected to reunite with King Charles and other senior members of the royal family.
Balmoral holds deep sentimental value for the royal family. It’s a place filled with happy memories—from idyllic family holidays to the poignant moment when King Charles learned of Queen Elizabeth’s passing. It’s also where Prince William first met Catherine.
Rather than opting for a private jet or helicopter, Catherine chose to fly economy. The flight landed at Inverness Airport before the family continued their journey to the estate. Fellow passengers were surprised—but respectfully discreet—upon realizing they were sharing the cabin with the future Queen Consort and her children. One traveler, seated just two rows ahead, described the atmosphere as “surreal yet serene,” noting the discreet presence of security personnel and the overall calm on board.
Upon arrival, Catherine was seen dressed in a green skirt and jacket, with sunglasses shielding her eyes. She held Charlotte’s hand as they calmly crossed the tarmac. Charlotte carried a pink overnight bag, while Prince Louis followed with a blue backpack slung over his shoulder. A fellow passenger noted Catherine’s attentiveness throughout the flight, including getting up mid-journey to retrieve Charlotte’s iPad—an ordinary act of motherhood that resonated deeply.
“They could have flown privately, but they didn’t,” the traveler shared. “She was so hands-on—just like any other mom traveling with her kids.”
This year’s visit to Balmoral carries emotional weight. It’s a place deeply rooted in royal tradition and cherished memories. There, the children can enjoy the same simple pleasures once treasured by their father: nature walks, forest hikes, and picnics surrounded by Scotland’s stunning wildlife.
Catherine has often joked that her children keep her so busy, she barely has time for a cup of tea. Yet, tea has always held a special place in their home life. Back in January 2021, during the COVID-19 lockdown, William and the children reportedly organized a surprise birthday tea party for Catherine at their country residence, Anmer Hall in Norfolk.
Visitors to their home often describe it as warm and welcoming, far from the formality of palace life. “If you go around to their house, you’ll get a cup of tea—and it’s usually William who makes it,” one source shared.
The Wales family now resides at Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor estate, with the 4,800-acre Windsor Great Park just outside their door. However, this summer, parts of the park have faced a new challenge: an infestation of the invasive oak processionary moth, first spotted in the UK in 2005 and in the park by 2018.
Despite the relaxing summer, the royal children have had a packed schedule. During the recent French state visit to the UK, Catherine made a charming, off-the-cuff remark while passing a portrait of a young King Louis XIV. Smiling, she quipped, “I should know,” in a playful reference to her youngest son, Prince Louis—who bears a striking resemblance to the young monarch.
At this year’s Trooping the Colour, Princess Charlotte was seen sweetly wiping condensation off a window so she and her mother could wave to the cheering crowd. Prince Louis once again captured hearts with his signature dance moves, delighting onlookers and bringing a smile to Catherine’s face.
Catherine also made her annual appearance at Wimbledon, often accompanied by George and Charlotte, both of whom seem to be following in their mom’s love for tennis. During the event, Charlotte beamed as her mother received a standing ovation—another reminder of how the Princess of Wales continues to balance public duty with personal grace and relatability.
