One of Netflix’s Most Brutal War Docuseries, “Mob War: Philadelphia vs. The Mafia”

From the perspective of the FBI, to the words of the people directly involved in the brutal events, the docuseries really showcases how chaotic a fight for control can be.

Mob War: Philadelphia vs. The Mafia is a Netflix docuseries that talks about the incident in the 1990s, wherein there is a power vacuum that needs to be filled. The candidates for this lack of control in this underground world of drugs, prostitution, and power in Philadelphia are John Stanfa and Joey Merlino, leading to some of the most brutal gang wars in history.

Is the Docuseries Worth Watching?

If you’re a fan of interesting stories from history and true crime stories, then Mob War: Philadelphia vs. The Mafia is a great addition to your watchlist. It tells us the story based on the recorded history of the gang war and experiences from the people who were at the center of when and where it all happened. From the FBI agents who were undercover, playing things close to the chest, to the actual gang members who were imprisoned for their participation in it.

The docuseries has been out since October 22, 2025, and it may have only been barely a day after its release, the docuseries already has a score of 7.0/10 on IMDb, rated by 79 critics, 23 of them gave the score of 7/10, while 11 gave it an 8/10, and 7 people gave the score of 9/10, while 7 more gave it a 10/10. The numbers alone, especially this early on, are enough to say that the show is worth a watch.

With the raging success of Netflix’s docuseries, it is no surprise that this one is already making its way up there. Mob War: Philadelphia vs. The Mafia is, for sure, a retelling of history that can still send shivers down your spine, knowing that war can happen almost anywhere.
