This emotional moment was captured in last week’s Fletchers’ Family Farm, where the couple faced the aftermath of nature’s fury. In the episode, Kelvin and Liz inspected the devastation left by the extreme weather that had battered their land, only to realize how narrowly they had escaped disaster.
The Nightmare That Nearly Came True
The storm swept across the country, leaving destruction in its wake—and the Fletchers’ farm was no exception. “Storm season is sweeping through the whole country, causing major floods and devastation,” Kelvin said in a voiceover. “Our farm hasn’t escaped the impact.”
As they surveyed fallen trees and damaged fencing, Liz admitted, visibly shaken, “Gosh, it’s hard to believe that the wind can blow that down, isn’t it?” A massive tree had fallen dangerously close to their family lodge, nearly destroying everything.

The couple has faced every element in the past year, from fire to floods, and now, the storm threatened to take it all away. Liz opened up, saying, “We’ve been put to the test.” But even in the face of nature’s destruction, the couple counted their blessings, grateful to have made it through the worst.
Other parts of the land suffered as well, including another huge tree that fell across fencing in the paddock. Despite the chaos, they were relieved to find that none of their animals were injured.
A Bitter-Sweet Milestone
The storm wasn’t the only emotional event for the Fletchers this week. In the same episode, Kelvin faced the bittersweet task of preparing their first-ever calf, Sonic, for slaughter. A moment of mixed emotions, Kelvin said, “It’s bittersweet, really. It’s a bit of a weird one.” Sonic, the farm’s first cow, had become a symbol of the Fletchers’ journey, making his departure all the more difficult.
Kelvin reflected on the significance of this loss, saying, “We’ll always remember Sonic. But they say the first is always the hardest.”
