Steven Bartlett is officially engaged, with the Diary of a CEO podcaster and Dragons’ Den star preparing to marry his long-term girlfriend Melanie Lopes — a festive proposal the Daily Mail can exclusively reveal.

The 33-year-old entrepreneur dropped to one knee on Christmas Day while the couple were enjoying a romantic holiday in Morocco, presenting French-Portuguese yoga entrepreneur Melanie, also 33, with a sparkling diamond engagement ring. She was delighted to say “yes”.

Sources close to the couple say that after years of splitting their time between London and Los Angeles and navigating demanding careers, they have never been happier and are now excitedly planning their wedding.

Multimillionaire Steven, who is believed to be worth around £320million, first dated Melanie for a year before the pair briefly split while he concentrated on building his fast-growing business empire. But after realising he could not live without her, Steven famously flew 22 hours to Bali — where Melanie runs a breathwork and yoga retreat — to win her back. Their relationship has gone from strength to strength ever since.

A source said: “Steven and Melanie have been together a long time, but everything really changed once they began living together in both London and LA. The proposal happened on Christmas Day in Morocco and Melanie was thrilled. They truly are soulmates.”
A spokesman later confirmed: “We can confirm Steven and Melanie are engaged to be married. They are both very, very happy.”

The couple first connected on Instagram back in 2016 but have always chosen to keep their relationship largely private, despite their careers being rooted in the digital world.
Steven has previously admitted that balancing love and ambition was not easy in the early days. During a live podcast show in 2022, he revealed how his intense focus on work often left little room for personal relationships.

“Between seven in the morning and nine at night, I’m totally in the zone,” he said. “I don’t even realise there’s anyone else outside my business.”
However, after learning how to create a healthier work-life balance, Steven and Melanie rekindled their romance and have since travelled the world together, all while supporting one another’s careers.

Steven is best known as the host of The Diary of a CEO, one of the UK’s most-downloaded podcasts, featuring guests from Kamala Harris and Simon Cowell to Davina McCall, Louis Tomlinson and Lewis Capaldi. He is also the youngest Dragon on BBC’s Dragons’ Den, regularly investing in new ventures.
Born in Botswana, Steven moved to the UK aged two and dropped out of university at 18 to chase his entrepreneurial dreams — a decision that initially caused heartbreak within his family, particularly his mother.
