The Nominees

It’s been a minute since we’ve seen Vernee Watson’s Stella on the front burner, and now that she is, we never want it to end. After getting arrested for insurance fraud, Stella was left worried about her fate and family, but refusing to back down from the fight, and Watson wowed us with both her moments of uncertainty and times of fearlessness.

Gio’s parent crisis took a step back this summer, allowing him to sit with the idea of Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) being his mother and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) being his father. But when Camila’s birthday arrived and Gio found himself face-to-face with Brook Lynn, both paying respects to the late woman, Gio finally talked to his birth mom. Giovanni Mazza captured the emotion os missing the woman who raised him, while also offering both Brook Lynn and Dante some tenderness with both his tone of voice and his eyes.

It never seems to end for Alexis, and now she’s faced with hit after hit. First, she was served a restraining order keeping her away from Scout (Cosette Abinante), leaving Nancy Lee Grahn to become grieving mother and worried grandmother. Then, Alexis arrives home to find a body in her living room. After helping Ava (Maura West) and Kristina (Kate Mansi) place an unconscious Ric (Rick Hearst) in her basement, Grahn whacked out her typical badass nature to tell Ric their ultimate plan and enjoy a little revenge on the man she can’t stand.

Kristina Wagner brought us straight back to 1994 this month after Maxie’s (Kirsten Storms) unexpected heart attack sent her to GH. Felicia’s worry for her daughter was reminiscent of those scenes 30 years ago when Maxie first had heart trouble, which led to her receiving a heart transplant for BJ (Brighton Hertford). She poured her heart out to Lucy (Lynn Herring) about the possibility of Maxie’s heart failing her all these years later, and Wagner portrayed it now the same exact way she did then, but there was another actor who truly stole the show during Maxie’s health crisis…

The Top Spot

Of all the people in Port Charles, the one who blew us away and broke our hearts this month was Bradford Anderson as Spinelli. After learning his beloved Maximista (Kirsten Storms) had suffered a heart attack, Spinelli responded with a level of franticness only Anderson could portray as endearing. Worried about his girlfriend, Anderson allowed the character to break down over the thought of a life without Maxie. But it was Spinelli’s emotional bedside admission that he planned on asking Maxie to marry him once she woke up that secured Anderson as our GH performer of the month.
