FINAL EXIT: ALAN CARR’S BOLD DECISION TO ABANDON THE UK

After years of unfinished chapters, Alan Carr is finally turning the page — and this time, he’s thinking big. Very big.

The 49-year-old comedian and TV presenter has revealed plans to leave the country altogether, confirming he is finally moving out of the home he once shared with his ex-husband, Paul Drayton, more than four years after their split.

Speaking ahead of his appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, Alan admitted the decision marks a major emotional and practical shift in his life — and one he feels more than ready to make.

“I’m Selling Up — and Going North”

Despite divorcing in 2022, Alan has continued living in the former marital home, something he now says no longer fits who he is — or where he’s headed.

“I’m selling up and going up there,” he said, confirming plans to relocate to Scotland.
And no, he’s not joking.

Fresh off his win on Celebrity Traitors, Alan has fallen hard for life north of the border — so much so that he’s now searching for a castle-style property, complete with turrets.

“For real. My money, my decision,” he said. “I’m still in the house where my ex was — we’re divorced now and it’s been four years. I’m single, ready to mingle… I just need to move.”

He revealed he’s already heading to Scotland to view potential homes, adding that the whole process feels “exciting,” even if it’s long overdue.Alan Carr reveals why he's finally moving out of Kent home he shared with ex -husband | The Standard

A New Chapter — On and Off Screen

Alan’s Scottish adventure isn’t just personal. His experience on Celebrity Traitors has inspired a brand-new project currently in development for Disney+, making the move feel both emotionally and creatively aligned.

It’s a rare moment where life and work seem to be pulling him in the same direction.

“I Don’t Really Trust Anyone”

Yet behind the jokes and bold plans, Alan has been candid about the emotional scars left by past relationships.

While filming Amanda and Alan’s Greek Job alongside Amanda Holden, he opened up about learning to value himself after years of being “walked over.”

“There are times I wish I’d said ‘no,’” he admitted. “I wish I’d been stronger.”

Asked what he finds hardest about dating again, Alan didn’t hesitate.

“I don’t really trust anyone,” he said quietly. “That’s the trouble.”

Still, he acknowledges that moving forward means taking risks — even when it’s uncomfortable.

Leaving the Past Behind

For Alan Carr, this isn’t just about changing addresses. It’s about reclaiming independence, letting go of what no longer serves him, and finally allowing himself a clean slate.

After years of staying put, he’s choosing movement.
After years of looking back, he’s finally looking forward.

And if that next chapter happens to begin in a Scottish castle?
Well — stranger things have happened.
