In Friday’s scenes, Dr Todd speaks to Manpreet Sharma and Ryan Stocks at The Hide and expresses her belief that Charity is “just a barmaid” at The Woolpack.
Manpreet clarifies: “She owns half the pub – and she’s done very well for herself.”
Later, Dr Todd swoops in to see Charity and confronts her for lying. Abandoning her plans to move away, the village’s newest villain makes it clear that she’s going nowhere.
“You did fail to mention one thing – you owning half of this place,” Todd points out. “Does lying just come naturally to you? Is it in your blood? Is it hereditary? Oh, poor little Leyla.”
Urging Charity to solve her problems by selling the pub, she adds: “Take it from someone who’s been looking recently, it really is a seller’s market. So if you do want rid of me, it’s gonna take six figures now. A hundred thousand.”
Charity protests that Todd’s demands are “insane” and she doesn’t have the funds, but it’s only a matter of time before she’ll start taking these threats very seriously…
Emma Atkins, who plays Charity, recently explained: “It’s constantly that horror for Charity where any moment, Dr Todd could let it out. What’s stopping her?
“So she’s living through this constant: ‘She’s going to do it now! She’s doing it now’. It’s just that build and even for the audience – I think it’s just a really good journey.”
