Good Morning Britain descended into chaos this morning — and viewers loved every second of it.
Susanna Reid has been hailed a “national treasure” and even called for to be knighted, after she fiercely defended Rylan Clark in a heated on-air row about the UK’s small boat crisis.
It all unfolded live on ITV when Susanna and co-host Ed Balls invited commentators Kevin Maguire and Andrew Pierce to debate immigration — but the conversation quickly turned personal when Kevin took aim at Rylan’s recent comments on the issue.
The former X Factor star, who faced backlash last month for speaking about immigration while guest-hosting This Morning with Josie Gibson, had urged people to stop “shouting on Twitter” and “start talking like human beings.”
But Kevin wasn’t having it. Looking visibly agitated, he said:
“All these terrible myths that Rylan Clark regurgitated — he spouted most of them.”
Before he could continue, Susanna snapped into action — cutting him off mid-sentence with the calm authority of a woman who’s had enough.
“Hang on,” she interrupted sharply. “Rylan pointed out that this country is built on immigration — and he was grateful to the migrants who helped save his mum in the NHS. He never made it anti-migration.”
The studio fell silent. Even Ed Balls appeared taken aback by Susanna’s sudden fire.
She continued passionately:
“He was simply saying it’s the government’s duty to control borders responsibly. He didn’t spread hate — he voiced a concern shared by millions.”
Kevin tried to push back, accusing Rylan of “spreading myths and lies,” but Susanna wasn’t backing down.
“That’s not fair,” she shot back. “Rylan also mentioned the homelessness crisis and the lack of housing — things the government itself acknowledges. To twist that into propaganda is wrong.”
By the end of the fiery exchange, Kevin looked flustered. Susanna remained poised — firm, but fair — and social media erupted.
‘Susanna deserves a knighthood!’ 🔥
Fans flooded X (formerly Twitter) with praise for the Good Morning Britain host, applauding her courage for standing up to Kevin live on air.
“@susannareid100 deserves a knighthood for the way she just annihilated that vile, delusional Kevin Maguire for misquoting Rylan. Slayed!” one viewer wrote.
Another added:
“Respect to her. She said what needed to be said.”
A third chimed in:
“For once, I completely agree with Susanna. She’s speaking the truth — calmly and brilliantly.”
Others praised her composure:
“She’s stating the obvious and 100% correct. We need more of that kind of honesty on TV.”
But not everyone agreed… 💣
Of course, in true Good Morning Britain fashion, the clash divided viewers.
Some accused Susanna of “grandstanding” and “defending the indefensible.”
“What a horrible woman,” one viewer fumed.
“So disappointing from her this morning,” another added.
“It’s time for her to go — can’t stand her views,” a third declared.
One critic went even further, writing:
“Susanna Reid is clearly as ignorant and no better than Rylan Clark.”
Still, most of the public seemed to side with Susanna — who’s long been known for her razor-sharp intellect, cool composure and her ability to stand her ground in the face of chaos.
Today was no exception.
As one fan put it bluntly:
“Kevin tried it. Susanna finished it.”
And with that, social media crowned her the unexpected heroine of the morning — the woman who refused to let a fellow presenter be torn down live on air.
Whether or not she really deserves a knighthood, one thing’s certain: Susanna Reid has once again proven she’s the queen of live television. 👑🔥
