Over the past five years, Alison Hammond has completely transformed her life, losing an astonishing 11 stone. This major lifestyle change came after a pre-diabetes warning made her take control of her health. At her heaviest, Alison weighed a staggering 30 stone, but after receiving the terrifying diagnosis, she made the decision to get healthier.
While many might think such a dramatic change requires extreme dieting, Alison has consistently insisted that her success was rooted in moderation and sustainable habits, not starvation or fad diets.

The turning point came after the heartbreaking death of her mother, who had long been concerned about Alison’s health. Inspired by her mother’s battle with type 2 diabetes, Alison made the life-altering decision to overhaul her diet and fitness regimen, and she’s never looked back.
The Fitness Routine That Changed Everything

The goal was to target body parts more effectively for muscle growth and strength gains, all while allowing time for her body to fully recover between sessions
Much of Alison’s transformation can be credited to her dedication to fitness, especially with the guidance of her personal trainer, Lui Mancini. For Alison, resistance training was the key. She followed a workout split focused on different muscle groups, allowing her body the time it needed to recover between intense sessions.
In each session, Lui challenged her with high-intensity training, using weights that pushed her boundaries but always ensured she enjoyed the process. “Even when things were tough, Alison never gave up,” he said. Their goal was clear: build muscle and strength while improving overall fitness.
Alison’s workout routine kicks off with a 10-minute warm-up—either a steady walk on the treadmill or a session on the indoor bike. After that, she moves into a 30-minute upper-body strength routine. This includes:
-
Lat pulldowns (3 sets)
-
Dumbbell rows (3 sets)
-
Seated shoulder presses (3 sets)
-
Dumbbell lateral raises (3 sets, adjusting weight and increasing repetitions)

Alison and Lui typically aim for at least two sessions a week, though it can go up to four, depending on her workload and energy levels.
A Day in Alison’s Life: Food and Fitness Combined

When it comes to food, Alison has shared a glimpse into her daily meals. Her day starts with an immunity-boosting ginger shot, followed by a hearty Full English breakfast with eggs, bacon, and sausages, which she enjoys with her son, Aiden.
On studio days, Alison likes to treat herself to Caribbean food for lunch, usually rice, peas, and chicken. If she’s at home, you’ll find her cooking up a homemade lasagne. For dinner, she typically enjoys curried goat with rice or chicken fried rice.
Although Alison admits to enjoying a glam night out from time to time—her most glamorous night being Elton John’s 2019 Oscars party—she’s all about balance. “I don’t cut anything out of my diet. I just eat everything in moderation,” she says.
Despite the pressures to slim down, Alison remains unapologetic about her size. She’s been open about her struggles with weight in the past, admitting she was “so embarrassed” when she weighed more than 20 stone. She joined Weight Watchers in 2019 to focus on her health and has been committed to maintaining a balanced lifestyle ever since.
Alison’s Approach to Weight Loss: No Magic Pills, Just Hard Work
Alison has also been vocal about the weight loss jabs that have become increasingly popular, stating that they’re not for her. “I think for some people they’re a good thing, but I just don’t want to take them,” she admits. “I’ve heard too many scary stories, and I don’t want to risk it.”
Her decision to improve her lifestyle came after a pre-diabetes diagnosis. Alison shared how her mother, Maria, who passed away from cancer, had urged her to take better care of her health. “When I found out I was pre-diabetic, I knew I had to make a change. The sweets had to stop,” she said. She also revealed that she now prioritizes her health by exercising twice a week and even has weights in her bedroom for home workouts.
The Heart of Alison’s Transformation: A Commitment to Wellness
Through it all, Alison has remained focused on one thing: becoming the best version of herself. “I want my journey to empower others to think about making changes to their lifestyle, to live their best life,” she says.
Alison is now living life to the fullest, determined to take care of her health while juggling her busy career and family. She sums up her approach by saying, “We’re all going to die eventually, but I’m going to make the most of every day.”
