We all know him as the lovable, slightly clueless Kirk Sutherland, but off-screen, Andy Whyment is officially securing the title of “Coolest Dad on the Cobbles.” The Coronation Street veteran, who has been a staple of the ITV soap since 2000, just took to TikTok to share an adorable, exclusive look at his daughter Hollie’s ultimate work experience day in Manchester!
And let’s just say, Hollie didn’t just shadow her dad—she basically ran the street!
Acting Like the Boss at Underworld 💅
Andy treated Hollie to a whirlwind tour of Weatherfield’s most iconic locations, from the sterile corridors of Weatherfield General to the dressing rooms, wardrobe, and makeup trailers.
But the real fun started when they stepped onto the factory floor of Underworld, where Kirk works. Hollie hopped straight into the big chair at Carla Connor’s desk, pretending to answer business calls. The duo even treated fans to some hilarious improv, with Hollie channeling her inner boss, looking disgusted at the quality of a garment while Andy quickly whimpered that it had “nothing to do with me!”
They also showed off some soap magic, revealing that Kirk’s flat and Roy’s Rolls café sets are actually right next to each other, prompting another cute acting bit with Hollie playing a sassy waitress and Andy as a hungry customer.
A Peek at the Murder Weapon Cabinet 🔪
It wouldn’t be a true Corrie tour without a little bit of dark, classic drama. Andy took his daughter to the set’s legendary display case of real on-screen murder weapons.
Hollie got a close-up look at the actual knife Anna Windass used to finally end villain Pat Phelan back in 2018, as well as the infamous office hole punch that serial killer Stephen Reid used to bash Teddy Thompkins over the head with in 2023. Talk about a killer history lesson!
Andy revealed in the caption that Hollie was there for official school work experience, adding: “Really enjoyed showing her how it all comes together by a great team of people!!” He even let her watch a secret scene being filmed—though he’s keeping tight-lipped on the spoilers for now!
With Kirk recently involved in the dramatic Daniel Osbourne social services investigation, fans on TikTok are clamoring for the writers to finally give the soap legend a massive, blockbuster storyline of his own. After 26 years, he’s certainly earned it!
