Sarah Ferguson has been Duchess of York since marrying her now ex-husband Prince Andrew – but that has now changed
The new title Prince Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson will be known by has been revealed as the disgraced royal loses all of his titles following further revelations about his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
Andrew announced on Friday (October 17) that he would surrender his titles and confirmed he would “no longer use them”.
His brother, King Charles III, was reportedly “glad” at Andrew’s announcement, the Mirror reports.
Andrew’s statement also sparked questions from the public about Sarah, who will also drop her titles after she was dropped by multiple charities over an Epstein email.
In a 2011 email, sent after Epstein was convicted of procuring a child for prostitution in 2008, where she called him her “supreme friend” and appeared to apologise over critical comments she made about him in public.

In the email, she said: “You have always been a steadfast, generous and supreme friend to me and my family.”
Just weeks before sending the email, Sarah publicly said her involvement with Epstein had been a “gigantic error of judgement” and: “What he did was wrong and for which he was rightly jailed.”
Now, the ex-Duchess of York will now be known simply as Sarah Ferguson while she is in an official capacity, The Telegraph reported.
The move will see her relinquishing her title that she had held since her wedding day with her ex-husband Andrew, back in 1986.
The recent scandal erupted after it emerged Andrew had also emailed paedophile Epstein after he claimed to have cut off contact with the American billionaire.
His downfall followed a now-infamous 2019 Newsnight interview where he claimed to have cut off contact with Epstein.
This narrative was challenged after an email, dated to February 28, 2011, emerged that said Andrew reportedly told the paedophile they would “have to rise above it.”
The email also referenced late Virginia Giuffre, who had claimed to have been trafficked by Epstein.
Andrew was accused of having sex with Virginia, who said she was 17 at the time of the alleged incident.
He has strongly denied the claims made against him about Virginia.
