Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) has been left horrified by the arrival of Tyrone Dobbs’ (Alan Halsall) biological father in Coronation Street.
Tyrone was conceived as a result of Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield) paying to have sex with 15-year-old Cassie. After the birth, Cassie’s mum Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) left baby Ty on the doorstep of a police station, which eventually led to his adoption.
Ross entered Tyrone’s life for the first time ever after Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) and Ruby Dobbs (Billie Naylor) managed to find him via a DNA website. Prior to his arrival at the Bistro, Ross got drunk with Cassie at the local hotel, but Cassie didn’t recognise Ross until he had left.
Tyrone has been busy getting to know his dad, which is bothering Cassie a great deal. Believing that this man is a monster, she recently decided to upload a picture of Ross to a website that sees exes share their honest thoughts about being with someone.
Next week, Cassie makes progress by taking a call from Alison, who was previously in a relationship with Ross. She summons Ty, Ross, Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) to the Rovers and introduces them to the woman. Cassie shares that Ross stole money from Alison and threatened her, but how will Ross react to this? The trouble continues for Cassie in the week, as she finds Tyrone, Ross and Tracy enjoying celebratory drinks. Curious, Cassie then discovers that Ross will be staying in the area due to accepting a job at Highfield Prison.
Steve advises Cassie to keep her cool, believing that at some point, Ross will show his true colours.
That doesn’t look set to happen anytime soon, as Ross is invited for tea at Tyrone’s once he reveals that it’s his birthday.
At the dinner, Cassie struggles as everyone sings his praises and Tracy tells everyone how great it is to be in a relationship with a ‘real’ alpha male.
Having gone outside to get some air, Cassie returns to find them all singing Happy Birthday to Ross. Unable to keep quiet any longer, Cassie prepares to say something.
Her words aren’t enough for those closest to her, as Cassie finds out that Tracy has forgiven Ross and allowed him to stay the night.
When Ross reveals that he starts his new job today and has to take a drugs test, Cassie makes a mental note. She then spies an opportunity and mixes some of Tyrone’s tablets into Ross’ drink. Cassie makes her escape after, but doesn’t realise she has dropped the pill packet.
As the week draws to a close, disaster strikes for Cassie, as Steve finds an empty strip of strong painkillers in her jacket.
Steve announces that their relationship is over, and Tyrone throws Cassie out.
With Claire Sweeney’s exit from Corrie looming, it appears Cassie will burn her bridges before departing the cobbles.
Is this how she leaves? Or, if Ross grows annoyed at Cassie’s determination to turn everyone against him, maybe he will take action to keep her quiet?
