Coronation Street Shocker: Sarah Platt Named As Theo Killer But Fans Say Prison Is Not The End
If there is one rule on Coronation Street, it is that the obvious answer is almost never the real answer.
For weeks viewers turned detective over who murdered the truly vile Theo Silverton played by James Cartwright. The show lined up six perfect suspects. There was his long suffering partner and victim Todd Grimshaw played by Gareth Pierce, his mentor George Shuttleworth played by Tony Maudsley and George’s partner Christina Boyd played by Amy Robbins. Summer Spellman played by Harriet Bibby had a powerful motive after Theo left her adoptive father for dead. Bad boy builder Gary Windass played by Mikey North has a history that made him an instant favourite for the crime. And Theo’s furious ex wife Danielle Silverton played by Natalie Anderson was right in the frame.
In the end, it was none of them. The evidence points to the last person anyone expected. Weatherfield’s ultimate girl next door Sarah Platt played by Tina O’Brien.
How Theo Died On The Cobbles
On the night of the murder, Sarah came face to face with Theo on the rooftop scaffolding above the Street. The confrontation turned violent when the unhinged villain threatened her life. In a moment of sheer terror, Sarah grabbed a metal pipe and swung. The blow sent Theo tumbling over the edge and crashing down onto the famous cobblestones in what police initially believed was an accidental fall.
Panicked and covered in guilt, Sarah made one desperate call to her ex Gary, a man who knows a little too much about making bodies disappear. Gary got rid of Theo’s remains and helped Sarah scrub away the evidence, which explains why the former lovers have suddenly looked so close again.
A Crooked Cop And A Setup That Could Destroy Everything
That fragile alliance is about to shatter. Sarah’s fiancé, the morally flexible DS Kit Green played by Jacob Roberts, is now pushing her to save herself by framing Gary for the murder.
In true soap fashion, this plan is destined to explode. Justice in Soapland always comes knocking, and spoilers confirm Sarah will soon be arrested for Theo’s murder and face serious jail time.
But would Corrie really send a legacy character of more than 23 years to prison to close the story of a newcomer like Theo? That feels off, and loyal viewers agree.
Fans Revolt And The Second Killer Theory Takes Over
Diehard fans have flooded the Metro Facebook page with one united message. Sarah is not the real killer, or at least not the only one.
One viewer wrote, I do not think she is a murderer I think someone else did it. Another added, Sarah thinks she killed Theo. Someone else maybe finished him off. Time will tell.
This second killer twist would be the perfect escape hatch to clear Sarah of a murder charge, but it would blow the case wide open again.
Who Really Finished Theo Off? Three Theories Exploding Online
1. Jodie Ramsey. One fan insists, she did what she did but Jodie is the one who really killed him. Jodie Ramsey played by Olivia Frances Brown is a daring pick. The troubled newcomer has been collecting stolen keepsakes from neighbours in a creepy trinket box, the same box she attacked Sarah to protect that night. Did Jodie find Theo barely alive and decide to finish what Sarah started?
2. Danielle Silverton. Another theory claims, Sarah did not actually kill Theo as he was still alive, it was Danielle. An ex wife scorned with a fortune on the line is classic Corrie motive. Danielle was furious about Todd potentially claiming Theo’s life insurance and she was on the Cobbles when he died. Overlooked and underestimated, she could be the dark horse killer.
3. Gary Windass. The most chilling and plausible theory of all. Be a twist yet. I reckon Gary finished him off. Picture the scene. Gary is moving the body when Theo suddenly gasps back to life. To protect Sarah, Todd, Summer and everyone else from the monster returning, Gary delivers the final fatal blow. It is heroic, tragic and totally Gary Windass. It would also leave the show with the same heartbreaking dilemma, losing another Weatherfield legend.
The second murderer theory is gaining serious traction for a reason. It fits the timeline, it saves Sarah, and it keeps the whodunnit alive. Will the soap gods deliver it?
