Georgia Toffolo has revealed the emotional toll of trying to conceive, sharing that the stress from her husband James Watt’s BrewDog company collapse has contributed to her five-month struggle to get pregnant.

In an emotional Instagram post on Thursday, the Made In Chelsea star opened up about the “lonely and crazy” journey of trying to have a child with James, expressing her frustration that it still hasn’t happened.
“Something that I’ve been really hiding is that my husband and I have been trying for a baby,” she admitted. “It hasn’t happened in month one, month two, three, four, or five.” Georgia, 30, went on to explain that despite consulting with doctors who reassured her that this was completely normal, the process has been difficult.

Thanking her followers for their overwhelming support, Toff took a moment to address the stress surrounding her husband’s company collapse earlier this year. James, the co-founder of BrewDog, has faced significant backlash after his company racked up over £500 million in debt before falling into administration. Amid the company’s scandalous downfall, questions arose about its toxic culture and failed ventures.
Reflecting on the stress, Georgia said, “I’m sitting here thinking about the year. We’ve had so much stress. I’m sure you guys have seen it all—public stuff like the BrewDog stuff has been really difficult to navigate.”
The timing of trying for a baby coinciding with the chaos of BrewDog’s collapse has made things even more challenging. “We are both very tough and very strong and have struggled to acknowledge that it’s been a tricky year,” she added. “On top of my naivety, I really thought that if you’re super fit and healthy, like us, you get pregnant really quickly. But it isn’t always the case.”
Georgia explained that she and James, who tied the knot in March 2024, have faced emotional ups and downs through the process. “Sometimes there’s just a lot of stuff going on biologically, but I think all of it coinciding… it’s been a lot for us,” she said.
James, who co-founded BrewDog in 2008, has been publicly criticized since the company’s collapse, especially after its new owner, Irwin Simon, made it clear that James wouldn’t be returning to the company. The new owner of BrewDog criticized James’s tenure, calling it a “stigma” for the brand. This has been a tough year for the couple, with James’s efforts to rescue the company ultimately failing and leading to the closure of 38 BrewDog bars and the dismissal of 484 staff members.
Despite these challenges, Georgia has found comfort in being open with her followers about her struggle. “I’ve been going through the emotional ordeal of pregnancy tests every month on my own,” she confessed. “Now we do it together, and that shift for me has been so amazing. I can actually cry with relief.”
Georgia concluded by emphasizing that while they are not struggling with infertility, they are in that “weird in-between stage,” and she remains hopeful. “I would love to hear from people who had a similar journey to us, and ended up with this perfect little gift at the end. Positive vibes, guys.”
Her honesty has resonated with many, with fans flooding her post with supportive messages. Georgia’s vulnerability has sparked a wider conversation about the often-overlooked struggles of trying to conceive.
