Looking for something including teens, drama, complicated relationships, American football, and more? Netflix has got your back. On August 29, the streamer released the second season of its widely loved original series, My Life With the Walter Boys. Hopefully, you picked a side already, because Team Cole versus Team Alex is only getting more intense in this second round.

Nikki Rodriguez, Noah LaLonde, and Ashby Gentry are reprising their roles, stepping right back into the tensions that Season 1 left their characters with. Who would have thought that an already extremely complicated love triangle could get even more unhinged and would be topped by unexpected and shocking relationship developments? Now that My Life With the Walter Boys Season 2 is finally available to stream on Netflix, it is clear that the teen drama series definitely lived up to the hype.

The Love Triangles in ‘My Life With the Walter Boys’ Are Getting Out of Hand

In the final episode of My Life With the Walter Boys‘ Season 1, Jackie just up and left after Alex confessed his love, and she shared a kiss with Cole. Season 2 kicked it off with a furious Alex (understandable), but ended with the cowboy confessing his love. Again. Luckily, this time Jackie reciprocated his feelings, but their secret relationship was questionable nonetheless. The bigger issue? Cole later also told Jackie he loved her, but Alex heard Jackie say it back as well. Ouch. If their love triangle wasn’t already complicated enough, it is now, and Season 3 has a huge mess to resolve.

Two other love triangles also created exciting suspense, although it got slightly out of hand. Nathan shockingly cheated on Skylar with charming photographer Zach, who evidently only tried to win back his ex, aka Skylar. The drama that unfolded between them was easily the most uncomfortable part of this season, as Nathan’s personality completely shifted to the negative. Cheating, downplaying, and immediately hooking up in front of everyone was such a cheap move, and definitely a love triangle that wasn’t needed.

A love triangle that was needed, however, was between Dylan, Kiley, and Alex. The aspiring cowboy has been neglecting the friendship with Kiley, who, as everyone knows, doesn’t take sh** from anyone. You go, girl. Surprisingly, though, Bighorns quarterback Dylan and Kiley form a strong connection, and Alex’s disapproving glance said it all. Perhaps he will finally realize that he does have feelings for his best friend, and that she is not just “like practically a dude.” Jackie and Alex are cute, but seeing that Jackie and Cole are giving endgame vibes, there would be nothing more thrilling than to explore that growing jealousy and maybe even feelings between Kiley and Cole in the next season.

Friendships and Family Connections Are Explored Deeper

Even though the love department has practically exploded in Season 2 of the highly anticipated teen drama series, the rest of the relationships depicted on screen have developed positively. In particular, Jackie’s friendships and connections with the Walter family members are comparatively deeper than before, which shows the natural development of the teenager starting to get more comfortable around them, trusting them more, and truly feeling like a part of the family.

Of course, as for the series’ main protagonist, her relationship with the Walters is inevitably connected to the grief she continues to feel and navigate. While Season 1 of My Life With the Walter Boys followed Jackie just mere weeks after she lost her entire family, the second season picked up months later. The must-watch show captures Jackie’s struggle as she grapples with having lost her love for New York while briefly returning to her old environment. The strong bond she has formed with Katherine brings her back to Silver Falls, where she is embarking on the sometimes daunting journey of becoming not only a part of the Walter family but also an integral part of the entire community.

Katherine and Jackie’s relationship this season takes fans on a heartwarming journey. The trust and love growing between them are palpable. They strongly connect through their shared love for Jackie’s mother, and, as a result, build a loving relationship with each other as well. Katherine has always been there for Jackie throughout the first season, but in this new round of the Netflix original series, they have touching moments that depict signs of a mother-daughter bond. These are arguably the best moments in My Life With the Walter Boys, along with those that reveal the depth of Jackie’s connection to the Walter children. While the majority of the kids weren’t necessarily fond of Jackie’s arrival, this season highlights how grateful they are for her presence and how they have accepted her as a part of the family.

Just like in any family, it’s not always sunshine and rainbows, but My Life With the Walter Boys thoughtfully tackles any sort of discrepancies and turns them into a relatable experience. Whether it’s financial problems leading to issues between George and his eldest son, Will, or Jackie pointing out to Katherine that she wants to be treated like anyone else instead of being bubble-wrapped because of what she has been through, the series simply knows how to introduce, explore, and solve familial differences.

Seeing how Season 2 nailed these interactions, Season 3 of My Life With the Walter Boys will probably be even more complex. Since the final episode ended with an accident involving George and the love triangle between Jackie, Alex, and Cole out in the open, there will be many paths and relationships to explore in more detail. My Life With the Walter Boys is available to stream on Netflix.
