Jesy Nelson’s former partner Zion Foster has spoken out publicly about the emotional fallout following their split — opening up about “traumatic moments”, “immense pressure” and strongly rejecting claims that he walked away from Jesy after their twin daughters were diagnosed with a life-limiting condition.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Jesy and Zion had parted ways after four years together, despite becoming engaged just four months earlier. The news came shortly after the birth of their twin daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Munroe, who were diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA Type 1) — the most severe form of the rare genetic condition.

As speculation intensified online — including accusations that Zion had “abandoned” Jesy during the crisis — the musician has now sought to set the record straight.

Sharing the first trailer for Jesy’s upcoming Amazon Prime docu-series Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix, Zion addressed the past year and a half with striking honesty.

“It’s finally here, coming to your screens via @primevideouk & @navybee.tv,” he wrote.
“The past year and a half has been a rollercoaster. When Jesy and I started this project, we couldn’t see the road ahead — but seeing how it all played out and having it filmed feels like God’s plan. The show is raw, authentic and honest.”

Crucially, Zion also addressed rumours surrounding his personal life, insisting that he did not move on until after the relationship had already ended.

“I met my current girlfriend after Jesy and I had already split,” he clarified — pushing back against suggestions of betrayal or emotional abandonment.

Reflecting on the early days of parenthood and the shock diagnosis, Zion described the period as overwhelming.

“As a new family we were under immense pressure and stress,” he wrote. “A lot of traumatic moments — but nonetheless we made it here today. I believe this is only the beginning of our journey.”

He added that his priority has always remained the same: their daughters.
“I’m praying for clarity, peace and growth so we can continue to navigate the challenges we face and give Ocean and Story the best support system possible. God’s in control.”

Sources close to the former couple have echoed Zion’s account, insisting that he and Jesy remain on good terms and united as co-parents.

“They are still friends,” an insider said. “There has been no abandonment. They are fully focused on their daughters and supporting each other through an unimaginably difficult situation.”

The new documentary follows Jesy’s life after leaving Little Mix, charting her solo career, her journey into motherhood and the emotional toll of the twins’ diagnosis. In early footage, Jesy describes the period as “the hardest, most painful time of my life” and admits she struggles to watch parts of it back.

Ocean and Story’s condition has also prompted Jesy to campaign publicly for change. SMA Type 1 causes severe muscle weakness and can affect breathing and swallowing. Without early intervention, life expectancy can be drastically reduced.

Jesy has since become a vocal advocate for adding SMA to the NHS newborn heel-prick screening test, arguing that earlier diagnosis could prevent irreversible damage.

The twins are currently under the care of Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and have received treatment, including a one-off gene-therapy infusion approved by the NHS. However, doctors have warned that some nerve damage may already be permanent.

As public scrutiny continues, Zion’s message appears aimed at cutting through speculation — reframing the split not as abandonment, but as two parents navigating extraordinary pressure while remaining committed to their children.
