Landman star Billy Bob Thornton promises another fan-favorite star will have far more screen time in Season 2.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter during an Emmy FYC event, Thornton played up things to come in the second season of Landman on Paramount+. “We love the people we work with and so we’re proud for everybody involved,” Thornton said before talking about some of the show’s other stars, including Andy Garcia. “He’ll be more of a part of it this year for sure,” Thornton said of Garcia’s cartel boss Galino.
“Andy and I go way back too, first time working together though,” Thornton added. The Landman star also opened up about his own initial reaction the script for the series’ upcoming second season. “I loved it. Taylor [Sheridan] knows this show very well, he’s got a vision for it so it’s pretty easy. I didn’t expect to read it and go, ‘Wait a minute, hang on here.’ It was great.” Landman Season 2 is currently expected to arrive sometime this coming November.
Written by Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, who co-created the series alongside Christian Wallace, Landman stars Billy Bob Thornton as petroleum landman and oil VP Tommy Norris, who spends his days navigating the treacherous terrain, native, and cartels of the West Texas plains. The series also stars Ali Larter as Tommy’s ex-wife Angela Norris, Jon Hamm as oil company owner Monty Miller, Demi Moore as Tommy’s friend and Monty’s ex-wife Cami Miller, Kayla Wallace as causation lawyer Rebecca Falcone, and Alex Meraz as cartel lieutenant Jimenez. The series is loosely based on the Boomtown podcast, which largely revolved around Wallace’s own life and which ran for 12 episodes from 2019 until its conclusion in 2020.
Landman Isn’t Taylor Sheridan’s Best Show, But It’s Still a Hit

As of the time of writing, the series holds a 73% “Fresh” rating from review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes as averaged across 36 critical ratings. The series’ “Popcornmeter” score, which aggregates ratings based on user-submitted reviews, sits at a substantially lower 63%, albeit across only a handful of ratings.
