Coronation Street actress Georgia May Foote has finally opened up after months of speculation surrounding the breakdown of her marriage to musician Kris Evans, describing the past year as “the worst of my life.”

The 34-year-old, who played Katy Armstrong on the ITV soap, shared a deeply emotional Instagram post with her 530,000 followers on Monday evening, reflecting on what she called a relentless run of heartbreak.

It had previously been reported that Kris had left their Manchester marital home, with Georgia quietly removing her wedding ring and deleting all traces of him from her social media — fuelling rumours their relationship was over.

Now, in her own words, Georgia wrote: “Nope. Worst year I’ve ever had in my life. I couldn’t catch a break — thank God for my friends and family.

I literally couldn’t find a single happy period to even post about.”

She stopped short of detailing what caused the split, but hinted at a cascade of painful events. “When the fire happened I really didn’t think it could get any worse. Then the stress of this year just sent my vitiligo wild. I really lost all my confidence.”

Friends of the actress have since told outlets that there were whispers of possible infidelity in the marriage — claims that have not been publicly confirmed by either party, but which, they say, have added to the heartbreak and public scrutiny surrounding the separation.

One source said the situation “became louder and harder to escape” once those rumours began circulating.

Despite the turmoil, Georgia struck a defiant tone in her message. “If I’ve learnt one thing from all this, it’s that I’m a fighter. I’m strong. I’m resilient.

It’s OK to cry. It’s OK to feel hurt. But one day I will have the life I deserve because I am kind — and that will be enough.”

Her comments section quickly filled with support, with fans writing:

  • “New year, new chapter.”

  • “Tough times don’t last, tough people do.”

  • “2026 is going to be your year.”

  • “So proud of you — you’ve got this.”

Georgia also revealed that her beauty business had been badly affected by a major fire earlier this year — another blow during what she described as a period where she “lost all confidence”.

In August, Kris reportedly left the UK to attend a songwriting retreat in Spain, sharing a cryptic post that read: “In a time of destruction, write something.”

The pair met in 2018, got engaged three years later and tied the knot in July 2023, keeping much of their romance private.

Beyond her personal life, Georgia admitted her acting career has also stalled. Speaking recently on the Sausage On A Fork podcast, she said the past few years had been the quietest of her professional life, blaming production backlogs and industry strikes. “I came back in December 2020 and just realised — there’s no work.

This has been a nightmare.”

Now, after a year marked by divorce rumours, career uncertainty, business loss and shaken confidence, Georgia is determined to move forward. “Life is hard,” she told fans.

“But we only get one. So love deeply. Be loved. And try to find a little happiness every day.”
