Coronation Street fans are speculating that a soap legend could be making a return for Debbie Webster’s wedding.
Debbie, played by Sue Devaney, first graced the cobbles in 1984 as Kevin’s sister. She left a year later, only to make a triumphant return in 2019.
It’s safe to say that Debbie has won over the hearts of many viewers. However, life on the street has been anything but smooth sailing for her recently.

Kevin’s life was thrown into turmoil at the beginning of the year when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Then, out of the blue, their long-lost brother Carl (Jonathan Howard), who had been living in Germany for years, made an appearance.
In a devastating twist, Debbie was then diagnosed with vascular dementia, a condition for which there is no cure. Despite this, Debbie remains determined to live life to the fullest, with the support of her family, reports the Daily Star.
She recently got engaged to her partner Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) and is currently in the throes of planning their wedding. In fact, in October, the cast was spotted filming the wedding episode on location.
Among those seen on set at a church were not just Debbie and Ronnie, but also other beloved characters such as Carl, Kevin, Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) and Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove).
However, viewers are convinced a former Weatherfield favourite could be set to return for the nuptials, 35 years since they first graced our screens. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, speculation is mounting that Debbie’s niece Rosie Webster (Helen Flanagan) might make a comeback.
“With the soap filming on location (they rarely do) for Debbie’s wedding could something big be happening?” questioned one fan. Another responded: “Hmm you might have a point. Rosie’s return?” A third agreed: “Yes! Get her back asap.”
Rosie is the eldest child of Sally and Kevin. She featured in the programme from 1990 to 2018, and was involved in numerous major storylines – from her various relationships to a kidnapping ordeal.
She was last spotted in 2018, when she departed the cobbles for pastures new in Japan, after being discovered by a modelling agent to present a TV game show.
