The trouble starts at The Rovers, where the arrival of the Driscoll family shakes up the pub’s fragile calm. Ollie brags that the legal case against him, linked to a car accident and a dodgy MOT, has been dropped. Kevin Webster overhears and takes the cheap shot, taunting his brother Carl by calling him the expert in dodgy MOTs.
Words turn into a fight. Landlady Eva Price throws Kevin out for causing a scene, but the anger carries on to the garage, where Kevin attacks Carl with a wrench. The scuffle could have gone much worse, if Ben had not stepped in to break things up.

When Ollie later sees Carl with stitches, he assumes his dad Ben lost his temper. Ben denies injuring Carl, but he does not hide his belief that Carl was involved in the MOT scandal. Ollie urges his father to back off, pointing out that Dee-Dee Bailey used her legal skills to get the case dropped.
Ben agrees to let it lie, but the peace does not hold long. The next time Ben and Carl meet on the street, Ben makes his feelings crystal clear. He corners Carl up against a wall and delivers a brutal warning, saying he will protect his family at all costs, and that if Carl crosses the line again, the consequences will be far worse than stitches.

Ben’s threat shows he is a man who will not be pushed around, and Carl may have provoked someone who will fight back.
