Fans of Channel 4’s hit reality series Gogglebox have been left heartbroken after one of the show’s most beloved couples, Roisin Kelly and Joe Kyle, confirmed they’ve been dropped from the cast after more than three years on the sofa.

The Scottish couple, who joined the show back in 2021 as the first representatives from Scotland in six years, shared the emotional news on social media — leaving viewers shocked and disappointed.
“We were told we won’t be coming back…”
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Roisin wrote:
“After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa, Channel 4 have decided it’s time for Joe and me to stretch our legs and have not asked us back for Season 26. Therefore, we are leaving the Gogglebox family.”
She went on to thank the production team and fans for their support throughout their time on the show:

“It’s truly been a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We’ve made lifelong friends and had the best laughs with the crew, who honestly feel like family. We’re so grateful for every single moment.”
From fan favourites to sudden exit
Since joining Gogglebox in Series 17, Roisin and Joe quickly became fan favourites thanks to their easy-going banter, thick Scottish accents, and genuine chemistry on screen.
Their departure comes as a surprise to many viewers — especially since they were seen as part of the show’s fresh, younger lineup that helped Gogglebox stay relevant to modern audiences.
Why were they dropped?
While neither Channel 4 nor production company Studio Lambert has given a detailed explanation, several reports suggest that the move was part of a “cast refresh” ahead of Series 26.
A Channel 4 insider told The Scottish Sun:
“The team constantly reviews the line-up to keep the show feeling fresh. Unfortunately, that means some favourites don’t return, even when fans love them.”
There’s no sign of any behind-the-scenes controversy — Roisin herself made it clear that the decision was purely down to production changes, not personal issues.
Fans react with shock and sadness
As soon as the news broke, fans flooded social media to share their disappointment.
Many called the decision “insane” and “a huge mistake”, saying that Roisin and Joe brought unique energy and humor to the show.
One viewer tweeted:
“Absolutely gutted to hear Roisin and Joe are gone. They were the best part of Fridays!”
Another wrote:
“Gogglebox won’t be the same without them. Channel 4, what are you doing?”
Looking ahead
Despite the sudden exit, Roisin and Joe ended their statement on a positive note, hinting at possible new opportunities ahead:
“We’ll always look back on this time with love and laughter — but we’re excited to see what’s next.”
Meanwhile, Gogglebox continues to air its 26th series on Channel 4 every Friday at 9 PM, featuring returning favourites such as Jenny & Lee, Pete & Sophie Sandiford, and the Siddiqui family.
