The White House Press Secretary shared a pregnancy update on social media as speculation grows over who will replace her during her upcoming maternity leave in May
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt offered a peek into her life as a mother while expecting her second child in her most recent social media update.
On Saturday, April 18, Karoline, 28, posted a video to her Instagram Stories showing off her baby bump as she her enjoying time with her toddler son, Niko, whom she shares with husband Nicholas Riccio, 60. With Karolineâs expected delivery in May, three women from her press team are reportedly under consideration as possible interim replacements during her maternity leave.
The update comes after Karoline splurged on a luxury pink stroller that runs over a thousand dollars, as Americans continue to struggle to afford everyday necessities.
In the clip, an expectant Karoline recorded her young son as she wheeled him in a car-shaped stroller. The country rock track âBeautiful Morningâ by Rascal Flatts accompanied the footage, which was labeled âJust bumping along.â
As Karoline and her husband, Nicholas, await their second child, discussions about who might temporarily assume her role as White House Press Secretary have intensified. The three supposed candidates are Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly, Assistant Press Secretary Taylor Rogers, and Regional Press Secretary Liz Huston.
Anna came aboard at the White House in January, contributing substantial political credentials, including involvement in numerous Republican campaigns. According to Annaâs X (formerly Twitter) page, the Auburn University graduate serves as a special assistant to Trump.
Meanwhile, Taylor joined the White House press team at the start of Trumpâs second term, which began in 2024. Trumpâs first term as president ran from 2016 to 2020, according to the Mirror US.
Taylor wrote for the Republican National Convention for nearly two years before transitioning to her role at the White House. Meanwhile, Liz, an Indiana University graduate, previously worked at cybersecurity firm StateRamp, where she advanced to program manager following an internship.
Karoline has yet to confirm when she will begin maternity leave; however, she recently celebrated her baby shower for her second child and shared photos on social media. The images captured Karoline alongside her mother, Erin, and her closest friends.
âMy beautiful friends threw me a beautiful baby shower, and I couldnât be more grateful,â she captioned a post from her baby shower. Once the photos from Karolineâs baby shower circulated online, many noted that her husband Nicholas appeared to be absent from the celebration.
âWhereâs Grandpa? I mean her husband,â one user questioned. A second user remarked, âWow! Wonder where the âold manâ literally was, and not Trump, but her rich hubby at least twice her age.â
Another noted, âItâs interesting that this is happening while the father is nearing retirement. The mother will see her girl head off to college but the father may not given his age. Thatâs what happens when you marry someone more than twice your age, I guess. Weird.â
Meanwhile, behind-the-scenes photos later revealed that Nicholas was in attendance at the baby shower.
