Mrs Brownâs Boys returned to BBC One this evening for the latest episode of its new series, Mammyâs Talent. The instalment covered Mr Foleyâs (played by Smug Roberts) talent show, which was pure chaos, and Grandad wanted out.

It is the second episode of series five, but it was met with a backlash from BBC viewers who took to social media to vent about the âemb2rr2ssingâ series. One viewer fumed: âThe BBC this evening is showing Masterchef and Mrs Brownâs Boys. Perhaps it is time to stop paying the TV lic3nce?â
A second said: âPlease stop wasting lic3nce p2yersâ c2sh relentlessly fawning over Trvmp & Farageâs every devoid of intellect thoughts. And #bbc1 stop broadcasting Mrs Brownâs Boys.â

Another fumed: âWhy do the BBC keep churning out #MrsBrownsBoys? Itâs done. Itâs not funny. Itâs emb2rr2ssing.â
Someone else added: âWhat hold does Brendan OâCarroll have over the BBC? Mrs Browns Boys shouldâve been stopped bl**dy ages ago! The first 2-3 series were fairly funnyâŠthen it fell right off a cliff! YET it still keeps coming back! Why? How?â
Despite the backlash, other viewers enjoyed the episode, and one said: âIâll make no apologies for this tweet. Iâm still enjoying watching Mrs Brownâs Boys. Yep. Really.â
Another shared: âIt does make me laugh! Needed in todayâs insanity!â

Brendan OâCarroll, who plays protagonist Agnes Brown in Mrs Brownâs Boys, recently discussed the showâs longevity.
He told Beyond The Joke: âI honestly donât know the secret to the enduring success of Mrs. Brownâs Boys, I write and perform what I think is funny and just hope that somebody somewhere watching gets a laugh out of it. Thatâs it, and, although I sometimes try to include a âfamilyâ message along the way, essentially itâs just a bunch of actors trying to make you laugh.â
When asked how ideas for this new series came about, he admitted: âThe ideas for these episodes are no different from the previous 53 episodes.â
He said the storylines are based on true events that happened to his family or had been told to him about peopleâs families.
